Marco Scagliola’s professional career is characterized by the diversity and versatility of experience acquired in private practice in England and Italy.
After training at two important firms in Turin (2000-2001), he was admitted to the Italian Bar as ‘Avvocato’ in 2002 and, during the same year he moved to London to attend an LL.M. (master of laws) at the University of London, SOAS and a sports law diploma at King’s College.
In 2003 he started practicing in his family law firm in Alba (Piedmont, Italy), primarily assisting local corporate clients in the areas of commercial law, employment and litigation, both at domestic and international level. In the meantime, he continued his academic path in England, that would eventually lead him to gain the qualification as ‘solicitor’ of England & Wales.
He moved to London in 2006 and, from 2007 he worked with international firm Squire Patton Boggs (formerly Hammonds LLP and Squire Sanders & Dempsey LLP) in their London City office, being mainly involved in sports, commercial and corporate, cross-border matters of the firm for either Italian clients in England, or international clients in Italy.
From 2011 Marco continued to operate in London but in constant connection with Italy, primarily assisting Italian contractors in relation to construction disputes in mainland Europe, as well as foreign investors involved in real estate projects in Italy.
Today, he mainly assists corporate clients on international trade & commercial contracts matters, cross-border disputes, as well as foreign clients in start-ups or investment projects in commercial and real estate sectors in Italy.
He also assists a number of bankruptcies and insolvencies in Italy, and companies involved in restructuring projects, assets disposal procedures, debt management and credit recovery actions.
He is registered with the Bar of Asti (formerly Alba) since 2002.
He speaks fluent English and conversational Spanish.
